MARIAM EL TASSI 1914 2008 Peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Concordia Hospital, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mariam El Tassi passed away at the age of 94 years. Mariam leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Abdo, Mohammed; daughters, Amine and Aiche; 32 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Abraham, and her three children, Ali, Emni and Hussein. She will also be missed by many family members and friends both in Canada and in Lebanon. Mom was born in a small town in the Bekka valley of Lebanon. She immigrated to Canada as a widow with her family in 1969. Mom's early years in Canada were spent helping her family achieve success in their new home through her guidance, support and determination. Mom was a gentle, caring and compassionate individual who always helped the needy through her cooking, organization of food banks, quilting and numerous other activities. This generosity and drive is with many of her family members today as they all work to help make the world a better place. The family extends its deepest gratitude to the staff at the Concordia Hospital, who showed great respect and compassion to our mother. The family would also like to thank the homecare workers for their wonderful care and assistance to our mother over the last number of years. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Grand Mosque, 2445 Waverley Street. Burial will follow the prayers at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
