JESSIE MAY THOMSON (nee CALDER) Was born in Letellier, MB on February 3, 1921. She passed away on February 16, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Jessie Kathleen; her sisters, Verna Earl (Morris), Jean and Archie Weiss (Emerson); her brother Keith Calder (Scotch Creek, BC), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas; her sister Ethel Calder; her brother Ross Calder; her brother and sister-in-law Glen and Peggy Calder; her brother-in-law Harold Earl and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Midge Thomson. Maither left the family farm in 1941 to go in training as a nurse at the Grace Hospital. She graduated in 1944. She was a natural born nurse. She supervised the Nursery at the Grace after the war; she did private duty nursing and ended her career as a Nurse at the Municipal Hospitals (Princess Elizabeth South 2) at the age of 65. She loved Nursing. As Dad said she always carried her lamp with her. Mom put up a good fight. I almost lost her in 1999 and again in 2003. She seemed to always bounce back but not this time. There wasn't a day that she didn't miss Dad. So they are together again. She's up there telling everybody the news from home. I would like to thank the staff at Costco, the Ambulance and Fire personnel who came and also to the Nurses at the Victoria General Hospital ICU for their care and compassion for both Maither and I, Thank-you. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, February 21 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue (entrance on Aubrey Street) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to a charity of one's choice.
