WILBERT THOMAS THORVALDSON Peacefully, on April 28, 2008, after a difficult journey with Parkinson's Disease, our beloved Dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa passed into the arms of the Lord. Dad was born on July 29, 1923, in Bredenbury, Saskatchewan, the middle child of 11. He must have learned to share at an early age and continued doing so for his entire life. He was a loving, giving person and made many friends. On February 6, 1947 Dad married our Mom, Ethel Bembridge. Later that year they moved to The Pas where they raised their family and spent 36 wonderful years. Dad was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a founding member of The Pas Lions Club. In 1983 they moved to Winnipeg to be closer to their family. After Mom died in 1985 Dad grieved and then rallied and was able to enjoy several years of travel, visiting friends and family. His family was always very important to him. He also enjoyed golfing (had two holes in one ) and playing cards. Dad was predeceased by our Mom in 1985, his son-in-law David Harvey in 2001, his sisters Elin (Allen), Bertha (Ivan), Lillian (Millar), his brothers Thorgrimor, Edwin, John, and Walter. Left to cherish his memory and miss his unconditional love are his daughters Heather (Bill Friesen) and Debra Harvey, his grand-children Chris (Andrea), Kelly (Mike), Stephen (Ashleigh), Janet (Brent), and his great-grandchildren Kelly, Sarah, Sophie, Payton, Katie, and Lily. He is also survived by his sisters Ruby (Chum), and Beatrice, his brother Travis (Dorothy), sister-in-law Belle and his very good friend Effie Sippola. We would like to express our deepest thanks to the staff of Calvary Place. You truly did become our extended family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road with the Reverend Carol Janke officiating. If friends and family so desire, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
