IONA DIANA THORDARSON (nee COATES) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Iona Diana ( Diane) Thordarson (nee Coates) on June 6, 2008. With family at her side, she succumbed to a three year struggle with cancer. Diane is survived by her husband Joe of 29 years, son Benjamin (Robyn) and granddaughter Chaise; parents, Al and Betty Coates, sister Deb (Rob, Amy, Stacey), brothers Dan (Eileen, Andrew, Iain, Meaghan), Don (Brenda) and aunt Iona. Also remaining to cherish her memory are her numerous friends and colleagues at McEwen Center. Following a childhood on the farm at Ste. Anne, Diane moved to Portage La Prairie where she received her psychiatric nurses training. Upon graduation, she worked at the Manitoba Developmental Center for many years. Following time off to raise her son, Diane re-certified her designation and began working at St. Boniface Hospital in the McEwen Psychiatric Center. The family wishes to thank the staff of Ste. Anne Hospital for the gentle loving care Diane received during the final weeks of her life. A service of remembrance will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Green Acres Funeral Home, urn placement to follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospital Ste. Anne Hospital, 52 St. Gerard Street, Ste. Anne, MB R5H 1C4. We love you and will miss you but we'll manage.
