After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Chris passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 11:26 p.m. with his wife Patty; his daughter Tricia and his brother-in-law Gareth by his side at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Chris will forever be missed by his loving wife Patty; son Paul and wife Renee, their children Shannon, Amber-lynne, Evan, Chad, Pearcy and Geordan (Geordy) Switzer, and also a new baby on the way; his daughter Tricia and fiancé Dwight Nelson, their children, Mason and Bradey Switzer; Mother Dorothy; brother Dawson and wife Addie, their children, Becky, Jeff; his sister Colleen; Patty's family Rose and Bud, Dan and Judy their children, Jennifer, Tracey, Gareth and Dawn and their children, Allun, Mikey, Mandy and Justin, Lynda and Conway, their children, Conway Jr., Ashley (Kramer) and special friends, Ann and Rusty and many more. He was predeceased by his father Clare; father-in-law Geordy; mother-in-law Betty; and his brothers-in-law David and Billy Shiels. Chris was born and raised in Strathclair, Chris and Patty were soul mates from the moment they met in 1969. They were married on June 6, 1970 and just celebrated 38 years of marriage. Chris was employed with the City of Winnipeg for the past 20 years. Chris was a strong, generous, proud and loving man, who was the life of the party. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Redditt, time with family and friends, a good debate, and his time in the garage with his friends by the fire. Everyone that met Switz will remember him; everyone that knew him loved him. On Wednesday, June 18, Chris' funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. For those who wish, viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris' memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7.
