MICHALYNA SZYSZKOWSKI Peacefully and in loving hands, Michalyna passed from this world on September 2, 2008 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Henryk and leaves to mourn her passing, her sons Eugene, Michael (Janis) and Richard (Nancy), all of Winnipeg and her daughter Mary of Thunder Bay. Michalyna is sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Sandra, Bill, Pauline, Jeff, Jarett, David, Brenda, Paul and Linda. These grandchildren were the light of her golden years. She cherished each of them, enjoyed them thoroughly and fed them well. She didn't get to know the spouses and great-grandchildren but we know she would have loved them as well. She was the best Baba ever. Michalyna emigrated to Canada in 1952 with her husband and three children, after losing their home in Poland during the second world war. They settled in Transcona, where they worked hard to build a home and make a better life for their family. Michalyna worked as a cook in several Transcona restaurants and was well known for her skills in the kitchen. Her home was always open for company, with plenty to eat and drink and Mother often had a Polish story to share with her family and many friends. We will all remember fondly the many happy Christmas and Easter dinners that she prepared for us with so much love. The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home and in particular the people on St. Mary's ward who have cared for her with love and tenderness for the past ten years. A celebration of Michalyna's life will take place Friday, September 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home followed by interment in Green Acres Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to service. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery # 1 Green Acres Lane, (204) 222-3241 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
