Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL DEAN SYLVESTER (MCDIARMID) November 28, 1918 December 17, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Sylvester on Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Mom was born on November 28, 1918 in Graysville, Manitoba. She attended school in Graysville and Oak Bluff and eventually made Carman home after marrying Hav Sylvester. Mom and Dad were married for 57 years, 50 of which were spent raising prize winning mink. Mom was a 4H leader, member of U.C.W. and a member of Central Ladies Club. She enjoyed bowling, curling, playing cards, gardening and she was a great cook who loved opening her home to many guests. Mom was always proud of her family and their achievements and she often attended their school and sporting events. Hazel was predeceased by her parents Neil and Laura McDiarmid, her husband James Havelock, her sisters Ethel Sylvester (Glenn) and Eileen Swanton (Len), her brother Jack McDiarmid (Rene), her brothers-in-law Lyle Sylvester and Wilf Drysdale, and her sister-in-law Madelyn Sylvester. Hazel will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Heather McGill (Lindsay); grandchildren Brandi Lumgair (Curt), Chad McGill, Jeff McGill (Nicole); great-grandchildren Braeden Guyot, Wade and Chase Lumgair; sister Gladys Peltier; brother-in-law Quentin Sylvester; sisters-in-law Dorothy Sylvester and June Drysdale; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Hazel's life will be held on Monday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, the family asks that a donation be made to the A.C.U Unit at the Boyne Lodge in Carman or the Alzheimer's Society.
