EDITH IRMGARD THOMS (nee HABECK) Edith passed away, peacefully, and went home to her Lord at the Concordia Hospital, early on Monday, January 5, 2009, at the age of 85 years. Remaining to forever cherish Edith's memory are her daughters, Inge (Robert), of Calgary and Hannelore, of Winnipeg; grand-children, Robert (Nicole), Rita (Craig), Ronald (Peggy); and many great-grandchildren, all of Winnipeg; sister Ella Herta and brother Hilmar (Marianne), of Germany; sister Hilde, of Alberta; brother Horst (Rosewitha), of Manitoba; and sister Helga, of Chile. She was predeceased by husband Reinhold; father and mother and infant son. Edith was born in Plessen, East Germany. She immigrated to Canada in September 1952 with her husband and daughters. Edith's passion was gardening and cooking; her doors were always open to family and friends. A private family service will be held for Edith in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Blvd., with Pastor Don Engel of Lutheran Church of the Cross, presider. The family would like to send a big thank you to the staff at the Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Edith's memory, to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
