Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKEITH ALAN TAPLIN September 16, 1974 - February 19, 2009 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, brother, uncle and great friend, Keith Taplin. He is survived by his loving wife, Kyla; sons, Tyler (13) and Brett (7); and daughter Kaitlyn (3). His parents, Don and Muriel Taplin; sister Donna (Larry Carlson); brothers, George (Marie-Paule), Murray (Bev) and nieces and nephews, Hans, Erick, Adam, Matthew, Justin, Evan, Alex and Robyn; as well as his mother-in-law Arlene Sinclair; and Kyla's brothers, Rob, Lonnie and Kyle; and niece Autumn. Keith had a very large extended family and many, many friends. Keith started his business career in Stonewall with his paper routes. He was able to boast the largest paper route in town and had many happy customers. He pumped gas at Southside Service and after graduation from Stonewall Collegiate in 1992 he worked at Oak Point Service. In 1994 Keith and Kyla were married. Keith decided it was time to follow in his Dad's footsteps and start in business for himself. Keith nurtured a successful business over the next 14 years. His pride and passion was his business. He helped many people around town with his practical skills. He had lots of good ideas and was always willing to lend a hand. Keith performed landscaping, snow removal, backfilling, steaming and many other jobs. He spent many hours renovating, fixing, improving, all with extreme attention to detail - it had to be done right! Keith's prize possession was his 1959 Chevy Big Block pickup. He spent countless hours meticulously restoring it to its pristine condition and had many plans for more improvements. Everyone knew when Keith was around town in his Chevy by the distinct rumble. He loved Sunday Cruise Night and his annual Back to the Fifties trip with the gang. Keith cherished his special times spent going to car shows with Tyler, working with Brett on special projects in the shop and giving Kaitlyn her daily horse routine. He loved snowmobiling, Saturday night curling, family gatherings and camping. He spent many an evening around the campfire with family and friends, the larger the group the better. He loved hosting gatherings at the farm in the winter and was always there to provide a warm place and plenty of wood for the fire. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. Rev. Leonard Orecheski will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a trust fund for Tyler, Brett and Kaitlyn at the Royal Bank in Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
