JAMES BARAN (BARRIE) DAVIDSON THOMPSON (1942 - 2009) Peacefully, on May 11 at 12:15 a.m. Barrie slipped away from us after a lengthy battle with COPD and a shorter battle with cancer. He is survived by Gail, his devoted wife of 42 years, sons Sean (Akiko) and Ryan (Heather), his sister Mary Erin (Lloyd), sisters-in-law Maureen, Judy and Barbara, brothers-in-law Lionel and John, nephews, nieces and countless friends. Barrie was pre-deceased by his infant sister, his mother and father, mother and sister-in-law. A service in honour of our wonderful husband and father will be held in a manner he would approve of on Friday, May 15, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Ray and Jerry's. Bring your memories to help us toast and celebrate the life of this truly unique and original man who greeted all things in this life with a smile. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
