STANLEY SWEREDA Peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 Stanley entered into eternal rest at the age of 75 years, after a struggle with Parkinson's. Remaining to forever cherish Stanley's memory are his brothers Walter (Nadia) and Melvin (Anne) and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Stanley will also be remembered by all his friends from church and the Parkinson's Group. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters Anne Borody and Marion Fuhr and his five brothers Peter, Harry, Matt, Mike and Joe. Stanley was born on July 27, 1933 in Olha, Manitoba to Anton and Jessie Swereda; the eighth of ten children. He started his education at Zaporoza School and continued High School at Lord Wolseley in Winnipeg. He graduated from the University of Manitoba as an electric engineer. He was employed as a Geo Physicist, working with the exploration crews in northern Canada, Indonesia and retiring from Nigeria in the mid 1980's. Stanley loved airplanes and at one time held a pilot license. He made several trips to Oshkosh, WI to see the air shows, and he was also a member of the Ultra Light Club. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stanley enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in the seniors program. Stanley loved travelling, both with his R.V. as well as going on tour buses. He belonged to the Reliance Bowling League for several years, which he really enjoyed. He also really enjoyed playing cards. Stanley's funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn, presider. For those who wish, viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street. The family would like to thank the staff at The Maples Personal Care Home for the care and compassion that was shown to Stanley. Also, thank you to Pastor Bruce Gelhorn and the Cookie Caring Committee for their visits.
