ALYSON GAIL TAYLOR April 29, 1950 - June 14, 2009 Gail was much beloved as the daughter of Pamela and Reeh Taylor, sister of Paul (Barbara), Judith (Paul Metcalfe), Timothy and Mark, aunt of Christopher, Andrew and Colin Taylor, of Laura and Derek Sharpe and of Carmen and Renée Taylor, niece of Heather Williams and friend to many on both sides of the Atlantic. A keen speed-skater and swimmer, Gail was a graduate of Grant Park High School and the University of Manitoba where she became a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Her career as a litigation paralegal was launched at the Winnipeg firm of Thompson Dorfman Sweatman and took her briefly to Ottawa, to Lavery O'Brien in Montreal for ten years, and then for the next 19 years to two prestigious law firms in the U.K. Courageous, vibrant, venturesome in all things, warmly sociable, having a fine sense of humour and an infectious laugh, Gail made lasting friendships wherever she went. A perfectionist, she was harder on herself than on others. Her love of language and literature was but one of the qualities that made her such a great companion, as a fellow traveler and at home. Loyal and protective, possessing a deep well of love, she was much loved in return. Three unsuccessful intra-cranial surgeries could not quell her indomitable spirit, but the tumour proved too strong for her body. Gail will have been cremated, but friends of the Taylor family are warmly invited to join us on the second floor of the Pavilion in Assiniboine Park (Terrace Fifty-five) on Monday, June 29, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. to help us celebrate Gail's Life. If the spirit moves you, a donation to the University of Winnipeg Foundation, at 705-491 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB., R3B 2E4, earmarked for the Reeh and Pamela Bursary Fund in Gail's memory, would be a fine way in which to celebrate her life and her love of good English.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I was reading Mr. R. Taylor's passage notice and I was terribly shocked to see my old bestr friends had passed 6 years ago. I knew her as Gail and must have missed it. I am so sad that I did. We went to Grad together and I still have pictures of Gail, myself and Lynne on that beautiful night so many years ago. My condolences to the family as I so vividly remember spending time at the family home. I last saw Gail at the airport going back to England.
