MALVINA (VI) SYKES (nee DELBIGIO) 1912 - 2010 With heavy hearts and wonderful memories, the family of Vi Sykes announces her peaceful passing with her son George by her side, on Sunday, May 16, 2010 in her 98th year. Vi was the youngest of seven children born to Maria and Giulio DelBigio and the last to pass. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her greatest joy in life was her family. She grew up in a large loving Italian family and passed that love and zest for life along to her children and grandchildren. Vi is survived by her daughter Trudene (Ian) Grant, her son George (Delores) Sykes; her grandchildren: Corrine Grant, Kelly Goudreau, Colby Sykes, Chelsey Sykes and two little great-granddaughters Morgan and Madison Goudreau, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years Earl (Bud) Sykes in 1990, her sisters: Georgina (Lino) DeTogne, Teresa (Tom) Burnett; brothers: Mike (Rae), Harry (Mabel), Phil (Bonita) and Bill (Vi) DelBigio, nephews Alan DelBigio, Harold DeTogne and niece Gail Read. Thank you to the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Home second floor who took such good care of Mom these past several years. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on her birthday, June 23, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
