Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL MAE SWIFT (nee FRANCIS) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ethel Mae Swift after suffering with Alzheimer's disease for many years. She quietly slipped away at the Park Manor Personal Care Home on June 30, 2010, surrounded by those she loved at the age of 78. Ethel is survived by her devoted husband Walter, three sons Richard (Doreen), Gerald (Gail), Edward (Patti), six grandchildren, her brother Edward Francis (Anne-Marie), sister-in-law Violet Francis, brother-in-law Harold Swift and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ethel was born and raised in Winnipeg, where she would eventually meet the young man she would spend her life with. Ethel and Walter were married in 1953, beginning a happy, fulfilling life together. Ethel loved to knit, and had an entrepreneurial spirit, successfully selling her knitting products at weekend flea markets. She also enjoyed bowling, forming many life long friendships with her fellow participants. Ethel had a passion for travel, visiting California, Mexico and Trinidad. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home for their dedication and compassion in caring for Ethel during her 13 year residence. In accordance with Ethel's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ethel's name to a charity of one's choice.
