Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE MONICA THOMPSON (nee LESLIE) Peacefully on October 25, 2010 at Tuxedo Villa, Winnipeg, Katherine passed away at the age of 96. Born in Winnipeg on March 12, 1914. Katherine graduated in 1937 from Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She married W. E. (Bill) Thompson on June 30, 1937. Kay had a varied nursing career: first at the Winnipeg General Hospital and the Deer Lodge Centre and then as a private special nurse to various patients. She returned to the Health Sciences Centre to head up the blood bank and retired from that position. Katherine was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 and was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary at Number One Legion. Kay loved to play cards and bingo. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting in her spare time. She especially liked going on casino trips to the United States. Katherine was predeceased by her husband Bill; son Jack; daughter-in-law Elizabeth; grandson Jonathon and her sister Mary Crayston. Katherine is survived by sons Les (Arlene), Dick (Sherrill) and Bill (Marlene), also grandchildren Tom, Tim Todd; Bill Jr., Beth; Richard and Lesley, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to the wonderful staff at Tuxedo Villa. Your care and compassion for our mother is very much appreciated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
