Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE ANNETTE SYWAKE (nee PRETTIE) July 13, 1924 - January 14, 2011 With family lovingly gathered by her side, Rose passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital. Rose was born in St. Clements, Manitoba, the eldest of nine children. She was a wise and gentle soul, peaceful, kind, and loyal to family and friends. Rose married her sweetheart Victor on July 20, 1946 (predeceased March 13, 1999) and together they raised their children Douglas, Kenneth (Lynda), Lois, and Gary. She was also predeceased by her parents Edward and Stella, and brothers Lawrence and Lonson. She is survived by her brothers James (Eileen), Raymond (Jean), Robert, and sisters Geraldine (the late Stan]) Beatrice (Wilfred), Janet (Bill), sister-in-law Alice, and brother-in-law Jim (Frances). She adored her grand and great-grandchildren; Scott Kathy, Matthew, Kaitlyn; Todd (Erin), Emma, Abby; Alana (Craig), Julia, Adam; Robin (Paul), Daniel, Olivia; Carissa, Jordan; Robbie, and Brittany. Victor worked diligently and started his own plumbing business in 1960, supporting his family while Rose was the ultimate homemaker. Rose placed the highest value on her treasured family and home, preparing tasty meals and engaging in meaningful conversations. Her love showed in every detail, knitting warm sweaters, baking favourite treats or decorating touches on a wrapped gift, she did it all with love. She took time to smell the roses and always considered others. Rose took joy in attending her grandchildren's sports events, music, theatre, choirs, parties, and graduations. Sweet Home a la Gramma the grandkids would sing to her, and they called her Honey . A loving sister with a big heart whose door was always open, a sister-in-law who embraced and valued all, Auntie Rose has 30 nieces and nephews, all kept close at heart. May Rose be remembered for her tender touch, strong constitution and sincere compassion. She died as she lived, with peace and dignity, and will always be loved. A celebration of Rose's life will be held this summer. Special thanks to Victoria Hospital 4th floor for their dedication, for all those who visited, to Victor Libitka for his help and concern, and to the angel harpist Diana Halter for her comforting music. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
