RONALD FREDERICK THOMPSON The death of Ronald Frederick Thompson, aged 68 years, occurred in Brandon on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Ron was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 6, 1943. Ron never considered himself a celebrity. He was an ordinary guy who was very approachable to and by everyone. This pilot, CKX broadcaster (37½ years), expert woodworker, and musician, had a great sense of humour. He was happy and very thankful to have had 28 years of sobriety. Besides loving his family, Ron had a passion for guitars. You could always count on him as a friend who was always concerned for those he hadn't seen for a lengthy time. He had a positive attitude and a great love of life! No matter what the circumstance, Ron would always make the best of it... In other words, Easy does it! His first wife Joyce and Ron raised three children Earl (Debbie), Mark (Sherri) and Lara. During hard times, the family would pull together and were stronger for it. Ron was so thankful for this. His second wife Heather of 16 years (their anniversary was January 14th), was the love of his life! His stepchildren, Becky (Kris) and Daniel as well as Ron's two grandkids, River and Natalie gave him an endless amount of joy and activity. Ron and Heather enjoyed travelling. Among the places visited were; Alaska, Nashville, Tennessee and Europe. There will be no formal service at Ron's request. His family would appreciate friends calling at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, Brandon, for a few minutes to express sympathies and share a brief fellowship in remembering Ron. You are invited to call between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Ron to a charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel Pre-Planning Centre, (204) 727-0330. A big Thank you to my Higher Power, Jesus Christ; and to all of you: Easy does It!
