RALPH LUCAS THOMPSON On March 11, 2011, Ralph Lucas Thompson unexpectedly slipped away in the wee hours. Born August 8, 1920 in Leamington, West Sussex, England, he was 90 years of age. A 1945 Gold Medalist graduate of the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture, his working career was spent with GBR Architects. His major projects include the Winnipeg International Airport, Polo Park Shopping Centre, St. Boniface Hospital, Grace General Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, buildings at Brandon University, University of Winnipeg and the Science, Math and UMSU buildings at the University of Manitoba. He was made Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1990. A graveside service was held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Thomson In the Park Cemetery where he was laid to reside beside his beloved wife, Joyce (nee McCullough). Left to mourn are his children Nancy (Ian Church) and Steven (Anne), and grandchildren Amber (Tyler), Craig, Stephanie and Gordon.
