JOSEFA ROCO TARAPACKI With great sadness, we announce the passing of Josefa (Josie) Roco Tarapacki on May 2, 2011 in Winnipeg at the age of 88. She was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Canada in 1980. Josefa was predeceased by her parents and by her sisters, Dory Fargas, Medy Atayde, Petusa Barredo, Techi Aguado, and Menchu Roco, and by her first husband, Tirso Robles, Sr., and her second husband, Peter Tarapacki. She will be lovingly remembered by her only brother, Jose Antonio Roco of Pasadena, California, USA, and by her children Luis (Lucy), Francisco (Lydia), Enrique (Lorena), Eduardo (Estrella), Corie (Ted) Marcelino, Mercedes (Mel), Esperanza (Bien) Lontoc, Ramon (Mila), Jose (Tess), Rosario (Ron) Beirnes, and her adopted daughter, Evelyn Luna (Kenn). She will also be sadly missed by stepson Ed Tarapacki (Dorothy) and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, especially Peachy Aguado Bernasconi (Carlo) of Winnipeg. She was joined during her 88th birthday celebration by her nephews, Ramon and Ditoy and nieces, Ditos and Dina. She enjoyed dancing and singing. Her favourite song, Mama yo quiero, became our family anthem when our spirits need some serious boosting. It is this song that will echo in our collective memories. Her unconditional and unwavering love for all of us filled every void in all of our hearts and provided comfort for our soul. Most importantly, she loved every moment shared with family. With her generous heart, thoughtful ways, and vibrant smile, we will always remember her as a loving mother and wonderful grandmother. Our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Timothy Chan, Minda, Florence of Palliative Care, Special Nurse Alma, Caregivers Yaya Nancy, JR, Kim, Genet, Lula, Gerry, Demerel, Worknesh and Nanay Gloria. Special mention for Father Rainerio Sarce, Father Yolly Gamallo and Father Gary Killen for their spiritual care and blessings and for the Eucharistic Ministers. Viewing will be on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
