MARGARET (PEG) TAPLEY (nee COLEMAN) Peacefully on August 22, 2011, Peg passed away at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin, in 2002 and son, Paul, in 2006. Peg is survived by daughters Rae Harris and Laura (Marshall) Bailey, grandchildren Christina (Grant) Harris, Peter Harris, Rod (Marcie) Bailey, Robin Bailey and Shannon (Jeff) Baldwin. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Alexander, Annika, Thomas, Riley and Gentry. Peg was born in Winnipeg in 1920. She graduated from Kelvin High School and then trained as a secretary. Peg held a number of positions as an administrative assistant and court reporter, retiring as a secretary to the registrar at Brandon University. Peg married Martin on Valentine's Day in 1942 and they celebrated their 60th anniversary shortly before Martin passed away. They lived in Brandon, raising three children and had many good and long-lasting friendships in Winnipeg, Brandon and Belen, New Mexico where they spent a number of winters. Peg loved travelling, bridge, and summers spent at their cottage at Pelican Lake where Peg and Martin would golf and watch the pelicans land on the lake. An avid reader, Peg would get the whole family involved in weekly trips to the library. Peg's love of music also continued throughout her life. The family wishes to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their care and compassion. On September 9, 2011 we will be celebrating Peg's life with a memorial service to be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 265 Smith Street, Winnipeg, MB at 11:00 a.m. Friends so wishing may make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba in Peg's honour.
