EVELYN HENZEL (nee MELNYK) (PICKLYK) Peacefully on the morning of November 28, 2011, at her residence at Park Manor Personal Care Home, mom passed away. Our mother was born January 25, 1924 in a small town in Poland. She was a mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mom was predeceased by her parents Peter and Anna Melnyk, her first husband Mike J. Picklyk, second husband Joe Henzel, one son Donald Picklyk, and one brother John Melnyk. She is survived by one son Boris (Myra), his two children Ryan and Candace (Steve); one daughter Maryann, her husband Wayne Okapiec and their four children Shaylan (Melonie), Riley (Giselle), Lindsey (Shawna), Whitney, and one great-grandson Ryan Okapiec. She is also survived by one sister Olga Bodnarchuk, and two sisters-in-law Nellie Prociuk and Audrey Melnyk as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011, followed by brunch at the chapel, with interment at Sopiwnyk Church in Caliento. Officiating at the service will be Father Douglas Le Claire. Pallbearers are Shaylan Okapiec, Ryan Picklyk, Gary Pichlyk, Ed Prociuk, Ken Bodnarchuk and Roman Kuchma. The family would like to extend their sincere, heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home for all the care and compassion they provided mom during her stay at the Home.
