MAVIS HELEN BERNICE KOWALUK At the age of 76, Mavis Helen Bernice Kowaluk (nee Johnston), with the grace of God, passed away the morning of December 2, 2011 at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg. The Day God Called You Home God looked around His Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon His earth and saw your loving face He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain. And knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw your path was difficult, He closed your tired eyes, He whispered to you Peace be Thine and gave you wings to fly. When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain, We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide, You live on through your children, you're always by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you on the day God called you home. A loving mother and wife, Mavis was predeceased by her husband William Kowaluk and her parents Harold and Hattie Johnston. She is survived by her three children, Stephen Kowaluk, Cheryl (Richard) Mootoo, and Bruce (Patricia Napier) Kowaluk, and five wonderful grandchildren: Xavier, Connor, Vivianne, Julia and Hilary. Many thanks to her many good friends, family and caregivers who assisted her this past year; keeping company, ensuring her dignity and offering peace of mind throughout difficult circumstances. Mavis was a brave soul who showed us what was possible in the face of adversity. We thank her for this, for her resolve and for her never-ending love. We will miss her dearly. In memory of our mother, we invite you to attend a memorial service to celebrate her life on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
