GEORGE COLEMAN TURNLEY With family members at his side, George Coleman Turnley passed away on December 9, 2011, at 84 years of age after a lengthy fight. George is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Geraldine; his son, Michael (Winnipeg); daughters, Colleen (White Rock) and Marilyn (Regina); along with son-in-law, Vince, and daughter-in-law Lorna. George was Grandfather Extraordinaire to Natalie, Noel and Liam (Regina). Predeceased by brother Pat and infant granddaughter, Courtney; George is survived by siblings Patsy Janman, Chuck Turnley, Peter Gillis and lifetime friend Charlie Warman. George's life began in a remarkable way when his birth occurred on a moving train. Thus began a lifelong passion for the railway. George served the C.N.R. for 36 years before retiring into service with the CN Veterans Association, where he was honoured as a lifetime member. Over the years George enjoyed many community involvements representing labour and seniors, and was a generous contributor of his time and energy. George loved his crosswords, golfing and reading the daily newspaper. He was also a fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and always had a sports game on TV. In recent years, due to failing health, George relied on listening to sports on his trusty vintage transistor radio that never left his bedside, much to others' amusement. George had a rare sense of humour and an ability to keep things light even during the hardest times. His personal strength and optimism will be forever admired by his loving grandchildren. With a life begun on a train, George will be laid to rest after one final train journey through the Rockies. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please share a joke in his memory or pay it forward with a kindness to a loved one. Rest in peace George. You will forever be in our hearts.
