DENNIS VANDALE We are saddened to announce the passing of Dennis Vandale on December 10 at Grace Hospital at the age of 68 with his family at his side. A funeral mass and celebration of his life will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St. on Saturday, December 17 at 10:45 a.m. Due to a family member's chemical/fragrance sensitivities, we request that it be a scent free environment. DENNIS VANDALE We are saddened to announce the passing of Dennis Vandale on December 10, 2011, at Grace Hospital at the age of 68 with his family at his side. He had a rare neurological condition, Multiple System Atrophy that he lived with bravely for the past few years. Dennis was born in Winnipeg on September 30, 1943. He was predeceased by his father, Leo, in 1983' and his sister, Diane, in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Trevor and Alyssa (Tiger); mother, Margaret; brothers, Bryan (Manette), Glynn (Jan), and Aldie (Lynn); brother-in-laws, Larry Ball (Thunder Bay) and Jim Wolfe (Montreal); Auntie Nancy (Osoyoos), and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Dennis was an optician and worked for Imperial Optical and Stewart N. King Optical, including 10 years in Thompson and three years in Calgary. In 1982, he and Carol moved back from Calgary to raise their children around family. Dennis opened his own store, Tower Optical, which he ran as a successful family business for 26 years until 2008, when his illness caused him to retire. Dennis served on professional associations in various positions including Treasurer and President of the Opticians Association of Canada. His work was his passion and there was no other place he'd rather be. Dennis enjoyed curling, golfing, slo-pitch, and photography. He also felt very privileged to have coached his daughter's fastball team. A funeral mass and celebration of his life will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St. on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 10:45 a.m. Due to a family member's chemical sensitivities, we ask that you please refrain from using fragrance.
