Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALVIN (AL) LELAND OWEN It is with deep sadness but fond memories and with his family by his side, we announce the passing of Al Owen on December 14, 2011 at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Audrey; sons, Blair (Donna), Kyle, Darcy (Sheri), Anthony, James, Troy, Tim (Lori), Shari, Traci, Jonathan; sisters, Thelma, Lillian; brother Carl; sisters-in-law, Gwen, Anne (Jim); brother-in-law Bill (Alma) and many nieces and nephews. Al was born in Kisbey, Saskatchewan, February 26, 1935 and moved to Reston, Manitoba at a young age where he received his education. He married his wife Audrey in 1955. Al and his family lived in several small towns in Manitoba before settling in Winnipeg in 1966. Al was an avid curler and an Honorary Life Member of Thistle Curling Club. Discovering golf at an early age, when Reston only had a three hole golf course and carrying on through his entire life. He retired in 1995 to Sandy Hook where he enjoyed golfing with his wife, sons, grand-children and many friends. His winters were spent in Alabama and Texas where great friends and golf were experienced. The family would like to extend their many thanks to the staff and doctors at the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Sorry for your loss, Audrey . . . Al was a friend. When we first moved to "The Hook" he made me feel right at home. I had several occasions to curl and golf with Al and it was always a pleasure. - Posted by: Jim Livingston (Friend) on: Dec 19, 2011
