Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) VANDERLEK Unexpected on December 13, 2011, William (Bill) Vanderlek passed away at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 69. When Bill passed, he was surrounded by family and friends. Bill was predeceased by parents, William and Grace Vanderlek; sisters, Evelyn and Audrey. Bill is survived by his wife Betty; son Philip (Theresa); daughter Heather (Anthony); and sister Brenda (Del); granddaughters Sydney, Lauren, Erin and Meredith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, in-laws and extended family. He will also be remembered by many friends especially the guys and Sally at the energy plant at Health Sciences Centre where he was employed as an engineer for 42 years. Bill grew up in Stony Mountain and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 10. Bill's love of his life was his wife Betty and all of his family. He especially loved taking trips long and short with Betty and spending time with his grand-daughters. He enjoyed working on projects at home and helping others. Bill will be deeply missed. Memorial will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. on Monday, December 19 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I fondly remember my Uncle Bill--even though I am 51 years old now I recall watching old b&w movies with him and that, then, he was the TALLEST guy I'd ever met! I thought that he was our own "Friendly Giant." He will surely be missed.
