MARGARET HELEN MONTSION (nee MILNE) February 21, 1926 - December 13, 2011 Beloved mother of Rick (Debra), Judith (Richard) and Alan; and grandmother to Chantelle, Christina, Brett, Leah, Austin, Corben and Lauren, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the age of 85. Margaret was predeceased by her companion Lyle Coleman; her parents, Susan and Andrew Milne; and her siblings, Violet, Maude, Grace, Harold, Dorothy and Arthur. Margaret was born in Starbuck, MB, the youngest of seven children. Growing up on the farm, she was athletic and loved playing baseball. When Mom was 16 years old, the family moved to Winnipeg and she started her career with Eaton's Mail Order. Margaret married Jerry Montsion in 1952 and together they raised three children. After retiring from Eaton's, Mom worked at Rockwood A.N.A.F. and was a proud member of the Rockwood Ladies Auxiliary. Mom was an avid bowler, curler, and later shuffleboard became her passion. She won club championships in all three sports. Sadly, once Mom was stricken with Alzheimer's, her quality of life diminished. Thanks to Beacon Hill Nursing Home, Hazel and the rest of the staff who took care of Mom over the last three years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or charity of choice. A celebration of Mom's life will take place on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue where friends and family are invited to share memories of Margaret.
