MARY (EDIGER, DYCK) RUNKEL It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, oma and friend. Mary (Ediger, Dyck) Runkel peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour after a brief, yet courageous, fight with cancer on Monday, December 19, 2011 in Oliver, BC. Mom was born in Russia on April 10, 1928. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Margaret Ediger, husband David Dyck, sisters Margaret (Loewen), Helen (Runkel), brother Ike Ediger, brothers-in-law Jake Loewen, Dick Neufeld, and son Edward Dyck. Mary is survived by her three cherished children: Jerry (Sharon) Dyck, Angela (Michael) Douglas and Ernest Dyck; five adored grandchildren: Mackenzie, Hayden, Alexandria Dyck, Kirsten, Lindsay Douglas and loving husband Paul Runkel. Mary is also survived by her sisters: Frieda Neufeld, Agnes (Vern) Schroeder; brothers Peter (Margaret) Ediger, Jack (Eileen) Ediger, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mom was a member of the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church. Mary worked hard her entire life. At the young age of 13 Mary became the second parent to seven siblings. Mom began her life picking fruit in the orchards, and she ended life enjoying the wineries of the Okanagan. Mom loved to bowl, knit, cook and dance. Her family was so important to her. The service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
