AURORA (AUREY) FITCH (nee DESAUTELS) January 14, 1927 - December 23, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Aurora, early Friday morning, December 23, 2011. After a short battle with cancer, mom went to be with her Saviour Jesus, with her loving family at her side. Aurora was predeceased by her parents Dennis and Maria Desautels, husband Harvey Fitch, youngest daughter Lisa Plotsky, and niece Aynsley Kinch. She will be loving remembered by her children John (Diana), Carol (George), Bob (Maureen), Eileen (Rob), Judy (Mel), Garry (Judy) and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born on January 14, 1927 in St. Anne, Manitoba. She was the second youngest of seven children. Mom met her husband Harvey, whom she married on June 24, 1944 at the tender age of 17years. Aurey loved to work in her yard and garden. She was an avid reader and knitted and crocheted many items for her family. Mom loved long walks in the park with her friends and was very active in her church. In her younger years mom liked to go golfing. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors on GH3 and GH4 at the Health Sciences Centre for their gentle, compassionate and loving care of our mother. The family would also like to thank Michelle, mom's social worker, who helped us understand and obtain services available. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come with Me . So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to one of mom's favourite charities - Youth for Christ or Siloam Mission. Viewing and prayers will be on Monday, December 26 at 7:00 p.m., at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. A celebration of mom's life will be held on Tuesday, December 27 at 11:00 a.m., at Friends Funeral Service.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I just came across the information of the passing of Aury. I am so sad to hear about the passing of Aury. I worked for Harvey in the late 1960s at Metropolitan Life, after immigrating from England. Harvey and Aury became like 2nd parents to me. I am so sad that I lost touch with them after I moved away from Winnipeg. They are the most wonderful people I have ever met, and really thought a lot of his family, who were very welcoming to me when I first moved here. - Posted by: Ken Houghton (Friend) on: Aug 23, 2019
