LUMINA LAFRENIERE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lumina Lafreniere on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Lumina was born July 24, 1918 in St. Ambroise, Manitoba. She lived on the farm and she was full of fun and mischief when she was growing up. She was a very hard worker all her life. She was employed at McFadyen's Insurance Company. She also worked at the Paddle Wheel Restaurant at The Bay downtown and later, at the Paris Building as an elevator operator. After she retired, Lumina liked to spend time with family and friends, playing games, joking around and talking of the days of long ago. Lumina was very kind-hearted and liked to help people. She was always quick-witted and always had an answer for ending any conversation. She was a jolly and happy person. Lumina loved fiddle music. Left to cherish her memory is her only remaining sister of 21 brothers and sisters, Hilda Sydor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Oakview Place for caring for her for over 12 years. We will all miss her greatly and we will enjoy the good memories of her for years to come. Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, with interment of ashes at a later date in the St. Ambroise Cemetery. Donations may be made in Lumina's memory to Oakview Place.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I only met Lumina once at the nursing home about a year ago or so. Lumina had me laughing the whole visit. I couldn't thank her enough for letting me visit her and also to Hilda for allowing me to visit and meet with her as well. With my dad Meril gone now since 1990, all family stories disappeared. I'm thankful to both Lumina and Hilda for filling me in with some stories. I'm so sorry that I couldn't make the funeral, I would've loved to have met more family members. - Posted by: Lynne Zastre-Johnston (cousin) on: Dec 30, 2011

  • She touched everyone she came in contact with. What a dear woman she was. Loved her. - Posted by: Lynn Leslie ( LaFreniere) (Aunt) on: Dec 24, 2011
