Barbara was born on April 18, 1921 and lived all of her childhood and most of her adult life in the Weston area in Winnipeg. In her early years Barbara was employed at Pauline Chambers and with Canada Post during the Christmas season. She dedicated herself to being a wife and mom. Mom was a very active person and volunteered at Weston Community Centre for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church and was actively involved with the Church executive board and the ladies auxillary. Mom loved spending her summers at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach. She was happiest when her family were together sitting around a fire or for a good evening of playing card games. After dad passed away in l996, mom moved to Lions Place where she made many friends and remained active volunteering with bingo, playing card games and attending their planned recreational functions. She especially enjoyed the day trips offered by Lions Place and frequently visited the casinos. We wish to thank the health care providers at the Riverview Health Centre - Palliative Care Ward for their support and special care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Grant, George, Laurie I learned how to skate because your mother let me on the rink in your back yard. We lived across the street in a big 2 storey house. My condolences Barry Craig - Posted by: Barry craig (neighbour/friend) on: Dec 29, 2011

Grant, George, Laurie and family. I will always cherish my childhood memories of my time spent with Auntie Babs, Uncle Jack and " Lady." Playing bingo at the Beach legion on Sunday nights with your Mom and Dad and my Mom and Dad was always a real experiece, and many laughs. And even as recently as I met Auntie, Mom and Dad at the " Depot " after the bus trips, your Mom was always her fun being, saying " those machines " were tight, but the food was good. I am unable to attend Auntie's service, but my thoughts, prayers, love and best memories will be with you. Bruce - Posted by: Bruce Reid (Nephew) on: Dec 29, 2011
