ELISABETH DRIEDGER Elisabeth Driedger passed away at Donwood Manor on December 27, 2011 at 87. She was born on June 20, 1924 in Petershagen, Ukraine to Abram and Anna (nee Harder) Driedger. She was an only child. She completed grade seven in Halbstadt, Ukraine in 1939. In 1942 her parents adopted three nieces due to the war situation. Now she had three sisters. They lived together in grandmother Harder's home. Despite the grief endured because of the war the family was happy with a lot of music making. The family left the homeland in 1943 and made their way to Hermanns Bad, Poland in March 1944. Her father was taken away in 1944 and the family was separated for 22 years. January 1945, we were captured by the Russian and sent to Siberia. Together with other family members she attended an Evangelical Baptist Brethren Church. There she accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour. She was baptized upon her confession of faith in the spring of 1951. In 1956, she received notification that her father was in Canada. In 1966 they were permitted to emigrated to Canada, all her other family stayed in Russia. In Winnipeg, the Central Mennonite Brethren Church became her spiritual home and she was most grateful to the brothers and sisters of the Church for their love and acceptance. She enjoyed her travel to Russia in 1987 and Germany in 1992 and 1993 to visit relatives. She moved with her parents to Donwood South and also transferred her Church Membership to North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church of which she was still a member. She cherished her spiritual home. Her health deteriorated. She moved to Donwood Personal Care Home Psalm 103:2 Praise the Lord O My Soul and forget not all His benefits. She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by many cousins and other relatives in Manitoba and Germany. Donation may be made to Family Life Network. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren church, 1315 Gateway Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Viewing will be prior to the service.   • I unfortunately did not know Miss Driedger but I was drawn to read her obituary. What an amazing testimony to the goodness and grace of our Lord.
