Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN HOWELL After a brief illness, Kathleen Howell passed away on January 3, 2012 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home. Kathleen was born in Alberta on April 7, 1913. Her early years were spent in Calgary where she met and married George Howell. They and their two children moved to Winnipeg in 1947 and later to a thoroughbred horse farm near Glenlea, Manitoba, which they operated for several years before returning to Winnipeg. Kathleen was a special person who lived a long and active life. She had many interests; painting, crafts, dress and hat making, family, travel and gardening. She was an avid reader of books on a wide variety of topics. After the passing of her husband in 1982, Kathleen lived independently in her home well into her eighties, continuing to travel and pursue her interests. She aged in a dignified, graceful manner and was active, alert and mobile until her early nineties. In addition to her husband George, she was predeceased by her daughter Denise Morrison and by her grandson Jonathan Howell. Kathleen is survived by her son Murray Howell (Dianne); son-in-law Robert Morrison; grandsons, George Howell (Rachel Punzalan) and Rob Morrison (Corine Poirier); granddaughter Lois Morrison (Brian Beyak); and great-grandchildren, Connor, Quinn, Emilie, Lea and Russel. The family would like to thank the staff and management at Calvary Place, Kathleen's home during her last years. Their patience, love and understanding made her time there comfortable and meaningful. Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. My sister, Bonnie and I, spent times with Aunty Kay and Uncle Jingles. We would roll down the hills in their front lawn. Aunty Kay hand knit sweaters for our Barbie dolls. Their home was always so comfortable for us and we enjoyed our time with them. A gracious passing for a kind person. Thanks for the sweet memories Aunty Kay. - Posted by: Judy (Howell) Sorenson (Great-Niece) on: Jan 08, 2012
