WALTER JOHN THOMPSON Peacefully after a short battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Walter John Thompson passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 74. Left to cherish his memory is Paula, his loving wife of 42 years. He was predeceased by his parents Edna and John, his aunt and uncle Evelyn and Richard Hollaway, as well as his four legged friends, Mitzie, Tobi and Joey. After his retirement from Robinson Webber in 1980, Walter enjoyed the winter months in Apache Junction for 13 years and his summers at Green Bay Resort fishing in Caddy Lake and working in his garden where he grew beautiful flowers and plenty of vegetables which he shared with friends and neighbours. Thanks to the staff on the 5th floor of St. Boniface Hospital for their care and kindness shown to Walter. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of Walter's life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, Unit 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 with a note to have it directed for Lewy Body Dementia research.
