RALPH CORNELIUS RASMUSSEN 1930 - 2012 It is with deep sadness and fond memories, that we announce the sudden passing of Ralph Rasmussen at his home on January 3, at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Shirley, son Bradley (Diane), son Roland (Jacqueline), grandchildren Brett (Liza), Nolan (Jennifer), Matthew, Evan and Meghan, as well as great-grandson Brennan. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jean (Gordon) Stobb and his sister- in-law Shirley Livingston and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Rudolph, mother Milla, infant daughter Patti-Anne, brother Mel and brother-in-law Gordon Livingston. He was born in Winnipeg on December 4, 1930 and lived all his years at the family farm near Starbuck. Ralph graduated from the U of M with his BsC in Agriculture in 1952. He was employed by the Extension Service in Dauphin for a few months then he went to Sherwood North Dakota for 10 months to teach Agriculture to veterans. He married Shirley in 1953. He farmed with his sons and grandsons near Starbuck until his passing. He was an active member of the community and church having served on the board of directors of the Starbuck Credit Union for over 40 years. Ralph enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage and he was an avid fisherman, golfer, curler and hunter, especially deer hunting near Tilston. He and Shirley enjoyed travelling, returning from their last trip on December 29. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund of Starbuck, PO. Box 118, Starbuck, Manitoba, R0G 2P0. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Manitoba with Pastor Ron Vert officiating.
