Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR JOHN EVERETTE ARNFINSON After losing a courageous battle with cancer on January 4, 2012, Everette leaves to mourn his loving wife Diane, of 45 years; son Wesley his wife Bonnie and grandchildren, Tiffany, Natasha, Amber and Skylar; son Gregory his fiancée Leslie and grandchildren, Jessica, Brendon, Brenden, Alyssa and soon to come Emily. He also leaves behind his loving dog Lucy; sisters, Shyrlene Diell, Ian Reykdal, Wendy (husband Dennis) Christensen and Cathy (husband Keith) McLelland; brothers-in-law, Rick (wife Shirley) Gunderson, Lorne (wife Liliane) Gunderson and Stephen Winters; sister-in-law Kayleen (husband Dave) Valley and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Everette was predeceased by son Wendall, father Victor Arnfinson, mother Kathleen Brown and stepfather John Brown; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sigrun and Louis Gunderson, plus sisters and brothers-in-law. Everette was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba on August 31, 1945 the eldest of five children. When Everette was a young lad, he played an active roll in the St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Lundar, Manitoba. He was St. Olaf's first alter boy, as well as enjoying playing the organ and singing for the church. Everette had various jobs in his lifetime. The first job was away from home for Comstock. Then onto Clarks in Winnipeg. Everette then ventured out to Ajax, Ontario for Rowe Brothers as a truck driver coming back to Winnipeg as a Parts Manager for Canadian Tire. Everette tried his hand as a car sales representative at Eastern Sales in Winnipeg. Everette and Diane then moved to Selkirk where he worked in the Department of Parks and Recreation for 11 years before moving to Strathclair in 1986 at which time they purchased the Strathclair Hotel and still own to this day. Everette had to retire from the hotel business due to his ill health leaving Diane to carry on. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at The Bend Theatre in Strathclair. Rev. Natasha Pearen will officiate. Heartfelt thanks go out to the doctors, nurses, staff of the Hamiota Hospital, Heart Saver, Pacemaker clinic of St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care given. Many thanks given to all my employees for all your acts of kindness given to me and my family at this most difficult time. Thanks everyone for all the condolences and acts of sympathy. In lieu of flowers, please give donations to Hamiota Hospital or Heart Saver and Pacemaker Clinic at St. Boniface Hospital. Rae's Funeral Service of Shoal Lake and Erickson are in care of arrangements. (204) 759-2160

I will always remember the huge family gatherings we had at the farm. When I first met Everett, I remember I thought the words "friendly giant...look way, way up" And he always had a huge smile whenever we touched base.
