Date of Passing: Jan 05, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET GWENDOLINE PAYNE Margaret (Peggy) Payne passed away on January 5, 2012, at River Park Garden in Winnipeg. Her generous and caring presence will be missed by her nephews, Alan Bailes (Judy), Richard Bailes (Velvet), Paul Bailes (Linda) and Chris Payne (Anita), Wendy Pullman (Mark) and brother-in-law Tom Payne. She will be missed by grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Christian (Hey-Kyung), Koren, Cameron, Michelle, Joanna, Matthew, Jonathan, Suzi, Kenneth (Leanne), Megan, Jennifer, Stephanie (Mike), Kieth, Caley, Andrew and Shannon; and goddaughter Candice. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, David George Payne; father and mother, Earnest and Clara Bailes; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Pauline Bailes; and sister Winnifred Avery. Aunt Peggy will be dearly missed by Taylor and Tristen who enlivened her last years with their youthful energy and attention. Margaret was born in 1921 in Winnipeg, MB, and lived her early life in Oxbow and Estavan, SK, with high school at Daniel MacIntyre in Winnipeg. Peggy worked for most of her life with the Engineering Department of the CNR in Winnipeg as secretary to the Chief Engineer and subsequently as Budget Assistant for Capital Projects. She and her husband David were longtime members of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Her faith and her family were important cornerstones of Peggy's life. She and her sister were supported by her brother Norman after the untimely death of their father. Because Norman gave up his opportunity for higher education to support his sisters, Peggy made it her mission to see that members of her family all received a good education. Her generous financial support of family members to attend institutions of higher education will be gratefully remembered. We were blessed by her presence and her support and we all owe her a debt of gratitude. Our family is very thankful for the exceptional care Margaret (Peggy) received from the loving and highly capable staff of River Park Garden Personal Care Home where she resided for several years. They made her comfortable and welcome during her stay at their facility. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to your favourite charity. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com
