ANNE ROSTKOWSKI (nee BOGUTSKY) March 12, 1913 - December 30, 2011 Peacefully, after a long and fulfilled life, Anne passed away on December 30, 2011 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg at the age of 98. She will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Ernest (Ramona) and Alan; her two grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) and Lori Ann (Stephane); and her three great-grandchildren, Kasie, Renee and Andree. She was predeceased by her husbands, Bill Bias and Michael Rostkowski and her five siblings. Anne was born and grew up in the surrounding area of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. She married, relocated to Winnipeg and had her two sons, Ernie and Alan. Anne and Michael spent many years together in the same North End home, where they developed fast and lasting friendships with the neighbours surrounding them and, in true North End fashion, spent many hours chatting over fences and visiting on front steps. Anne worked at various jobs but most memorably at Oretski's Department Store. Anne looked forward to time spent with family, reliably present at countless family dinners, picnics, hockey games, dance recitals and family vacations. There were few Saturday evenings that passed that she didn't entertain her children and grandchildren in their welcoming home, with her big smile. The family remembers being treated with their latest finds from North End butcher shops and bakeries, many special chocolate bars and varieties of Pick-a-Pop they would keep on hand. Anne's love for animals was evident and Coco, Suzie, Char and Cole were four of the luckiest cats to have been loved and cared for in their home. Michael passed away in 1992 and Anne remained in their home until 2000, when she moved to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. She lived out her life there, where she enjoyed visiting with other residents and staff, and to the end, continuing with her favourite pastime, crossword puzzles. Anne touched many lives in her years and has provided those who knew her with many memories to be inspired by and to be treasured. The family would like to extend many thanks for the care and kindness that was provided to her by the staff at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. A private graveside service was held at the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens where she was quietly remembered by her family. I'd like the memory of me To be a happy one. I'd like to leave an after glow Of smiles when my life is done. I'd like to leave an echo Whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times And bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve To dry before the sun Of happy memories That I leave when life is done. Unknown Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
