Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAE CHRISTINA MUNROE 1932 - 2011 Peacefully, with her family by her side, Rae passed away January 3, 2012. She was predeceased by her parents, Elis and Martha Hedberg, sister Joyce Watson, and brother Vernon Hedberg. She is survived by her husband George Munroe, her children Richard Balasko (Sharon), Alan Balasko (Pat) and Darryl Balasko (Sheila). She is also survived by her stepchildren Leesa Munroe, Paul Munroe (Suzann), Howard Munroe (Donna), Julie Woo (Mitchell) and brother Bob Hedberg (Lannie).Rae also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rae was born July 23, 1932 at Eriksdale Hospital. She attended school in Mulvihill until her parents moved to Winnipeg in 1946. Once in Winnipeg; Rae worked at various jobs, and eventually became a successful real estate agent. When Rae and George married in 1978, she gladly embraced her newly extended family with her usual warm and loving style. She always made sure that there was a place for you in their home. Rae loved to travel, and her favorite spots would have to be Las Vegas, Barbados and Mexico. In fact, this past New Years Eve, she closed her eyes and said, I'm imagining myself on the hot beach, with the sun shining and the wind blowing across the ocean. However, of all the vacation destinations, Las Vegas was her favourite. Rae and George were lucky enough to experience the Las Vegas scene one last time this past year. To Rae, Vegas encompassed many of the things she truly loved; gambling, excitement, good food, and of course, good friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Permack, Dr. Tan, Palliative care nurses who came to their home and the CancerCare Clinic. A very special thank you to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit and to all the family and friends who supported us in our time of need. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). So many years, so many memories, too numerous to recount and certainly those shared with her, will be never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army 203-290 Vaughn Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 2N8. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949 2200 (Gimli (204) 642-7124) nbardal.mb.ca

Gary and I always remember Rae's fantastic smile and vivacious personality. She always had a sparkle in her eye and knew how to live life to the fullest. We remember the many times she and George would come over to Tim and Diana's home. George was his usual irascible self and Rae would just smile and enjoy a good laugh. She will be greatly missed. George was the love her life and I'm sure they had a wonderful life together. Rest in peace Rae and take care George. May your friends and family surround you with love at this difficult time. In deepest sympathy, Gary and Kathi Wirth - Posted by: Kathi and Gary Wirth, (friends) on: Jan 11, 2012
