DIANE GLADYS GREEN (nee TAYLOR) February 2, 1942 - January 3, 2012 Sadly, on January 3, Diane Gladys Green the loving wife of the late Wayne Green (1990) passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Diane is survived by two daughters, Laurie-Lynn and Lee-Ellen (Rick Andrews), Laurie's son Rheal Painchaud, Diane's sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Ben Urbanietz, special friend Greg Klippenstein and her constant companion, her beloved dog Cappy. Diane was predeceased by her father Ron Taylor in 1982, and her mother Myrtle (Swain) Taylor in 2007 with whom she missed having their daily chin-wags . Diane grew up on Queen St. and had a happy and active childhood. She and her family took many car rides, and visited many different beaches until her parents decided to build a cottage at Lakeshore Heights and that became the main destination for weekend fun. Diane met her future husband Wayne, who lived down the same street, on their walks to Britannia School. Together, they also attended St. James Collegiate. After graduation Diane went on to work at Kimberly Clark where she made many good friends. In 1961, she and Wayne were married and soon after welcomed Laurie-Lynn. Diane was a stay-at-home Mom and on Christmas Eve 1968, Diane and Wayne welcomed their second daughter, Lee-Ellen. While the girls were young and as they got older, Diane was greatly involved in all their activities, especially dance, baton, Brownies and Guides. In 1979, Diane briefly worked at Capital Accounting and in that same year, Diane and Wayne started Bright-Side Signs. They were trailblazers in the mobile sign industry and worked side by side until Wayne's death in 1990. Diane had struggled for the last few years with a heart condition but was working toward getting stronger and looked forward to enjoying many more summers in the cottage at Lakeshore Heights, especially since Greg was able to provide modern conveniences like plumbing! Diane continued running Bright-Side with Greg until her passing. Diane was very creative and had many skills and talents;...an amazing seamstress, baker, cook, gardener, and avid dog lover. She passed many of these skills to her daughters. Viewing will take place at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Monday, January 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. also at Thomson Funeral Home with Doug Wiebe officiating. Diane will be interred at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens beside Wayne in the Good Samaritan section.
