Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET JANE GREGG (nee MCNAUGHTON) 1922 - 2012 It is with profound sadness that the family of Margaret Gregg announces her passing on January 6, 2012 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, of which she had been a resident since November 4, 2010 Mom was born on November 14, 1922 to Annie Cooke Smythe McNaughton and Harold P. McNaughton in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carson in 1991, her brother Jim in 1988, her sister Pat Botham in 2001, sister Nora in 2002, and much loved son Don in 2002. Margaret leaves to mourn her son Gord and daughter-in-law Lee (Kaitlyn and Jacqueline), daughter Eileen and son-in-law Greg (Emily and Stephanie) and daughter-in-law Ruth (Tedd) (Andrew and Christopher). She is survived by her sister-in-law Emerald Milne and husband Don Milne (Jamie and Bev) and sister-in-law Elvira and their families as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a graduate of Kelvin High School in 1940. Mom cherished her family and all activities and celebrations that included them. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren of whom she loved to brag about often. Mom was a beautiful singer having been a soloist at Rosedale United Church (Churchill) for many years. She always gave of her time and energy to many charities, canvassing for Heart and Stroke and United Way and was a benefactor of numerous charities, especially the ones for children. She was a Sunday School teacher at John Black United Church and loved her bowling league at Mosienko Lanes as well as playing her piano. She also enjoyed a good joke and even to the end of her life she maintained her keen sense of humour. During the Second World War, Mom served in the W.R.E.N.S. and afterward was a proud member in good standing of the past W.R.E.N.S. Association and attended the last reunion in 2006 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Both our Mom and Dad had many long standing friendships that enriched their lives. Mom especially treasured her childhood and lifelong friendship with Bernice Parliament who knew Mom (Mac) so well and who always made her laugh. Many thanks to all of Mom's Neil Avenue friends, especially Bob Watkins, Diane Hildebrand, Johnny Riddell and Jean Turner. The family would also like to thank Homecare giver, Linda who was so compassionate to Mom while she was still in her home as well as the tireless nurses and caregivers at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their professionalism and many kindnesses. We were so blessed to have such a superior Mom who was always a lady and taught us to be true to yourself, to be strong and to cherish our friends above all else and of course...to SING! Always! We will miss you Mom-Mom.... Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with the Reverend Janet Walker officiating and Mr. Barry Anderson as organist.
