JOSEPH FIORENTINO 1939 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, nonno and brother on January 11, 2012. He leaves to mourn, his wife Mary (Paradowski); son Anthony (Lynne); daughter Lisa (Eric); granddaughter Violet; sister Concetta (Richard Jr.); nephew Richard III; and nieces, Aurora and Lara (Brian); and brother-in-law Bill Fulcher. Joseph was predeceased by his father Antonio, mother Giuseppina, brother Alfonso, father and mother-in-law Jan and Stella Paradowski, sister-in-law Adele Fulcher and nephew Jon-Paul. Joseph was born on August 16, 1939 in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy. He began his employment in the clothing industry at Sterling Stall. After many enjoyable years of work at the University of Manitoba, he retired in 2011. Everything he did was with great passion and love. Joseph enjoyed his summers in Matlock, tending his garden of prized tomatoes. Come fall, his hobby of wine making began. The Fiorentino Estate winery brought him many awards. He also loved soccer as a player, coach and referee. Joseph was a proud executive member of the Fratallanza Amatese Club and participated yearly in Briscola Tournaments with his son Anthony. He also enjoyed playing bocce in the Mona Lisa Bocce League. However, his greatest joy of late was spending time with his beloved granddaughter Violet. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. with viewing prior at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to Holy Rosary Church or a charity of one's choice. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044

  • Very sorry to hear of Jo's passing. He was a terrific man, and his kindness was very evident. My wife and I attended a fundraiser he invited us to, and it was clear that he was well loved. Our thoughts are with his family. - Posted by: Robert Borgersen (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2012

  • Joe and I worked in Machray Hall. He was a great friend. We shared passion for soccer, Italian dishes, life and family. He is almost always the first person I see when I get to the office, and he has this amazing ability to uplit and brighten my day. We regularly had coffee at the Tim Horton's outlet at the University Centre...the man of the people that he was guarantees lots of people stopping by our table to say hello. Joe was a great man. He was very kind, thoughtful, considerate and always placed others first. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Abba Gumel (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2012

  • It was with sadness when I hear of Joe's passing. I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Joe when I worked in Machray Hall where Joe also worked. Joe often talked with pride about his wife's cooking and his children's successes. We both shared a fondness for deer hunting so over the years we shared many stories. I retired several months before Joe but we both had looked forward to more time with family. - Posted by: Norm Hunter (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2012

  • I used to work with Joe when our department was over in Machray Hall (UM). Joe was a great guy! He was always cheerful and he took the time to talk to everyone. He will be missed by all of us. - Posted by: Ben () on: Jan 18, 2012

  • WE REMEMBER HIM AS A GENTLE, KIND MAN WITH THE BIGGEST SMILE BEAMING AT US FROM ACROSS THE ROOM AT THE AMATESE CHRISTMAS PARTIES IN THE HOLY ROSARY CHURCH WHEN WE WERE YOUNG. HIS LOVING BEARHUGS WERE A COMFORT WHEN OUR DAD DIED AND OUR HEARTS AND LOVE GO OUT TO ALL OF YOU. - Posted by: CATHIE AND JANE LOSCERBO (DAUGHTERS OF PASQUALE AND CATHERINE LOSCERBO) on: Jan 15, 2012
