JOHN D. GOW April 25, 1958 - January 1, 2012 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John David Gow on Sunday, January 1, 2012. John was the beloved son of Emily Gow. He leaves to mourn his passing, older brother Sandy Gow and younger sister Lori M. Young. John was predeceased by his father Robert D. Gow. John attended St. Ignatius School and graduated from Grant Park High School, going on to work at Motor Coach Industries for many years. He was a very giving person and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had a love of music and was an avid piano player, something which he learned to play by ear. John had a fondness and love of pets, always bringing home stray dogs. John travelled extensively and loved flying. He earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed his own float plane. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. (John 3:16) A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St. Interment to follow at St. Vital Cemetery. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • John and I were good friends in the late 1980s. We had many adventures together which included many flying excursions. We flew to several northern remote communities to sell Kentucky Fried Chicken. John was a very industrious fellow. We flew from Winnipeg to Victoria, BC in a Cessna 172. While there for a couple of weeks, we flew around the island, into Vancouver and to Seattle. That was an adventure of a lifetime. Thank you John! I left Winnipeg in the early 1990s and John and I lost touch with each other. A few days ago I decided to reach out to John, just say hi. I was quite surprised and very saddened to find an obituary from more than a decade ago. I sincerely wish that I would have reached out sooner. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Jack Koreluik (Friend) on: Aug 20, 2022

  • John is a long time friend and I am really saddened by this news. Such a kind and caring person, Always a twinkle in his eye and a great sense of humour. It's not every day you get to have a friend like John in your life and I will miss him. • I went to high school with John and he was a very good friend. When I was about 14 years-old, John helped me get my very first job ever. He was a very kind person with a great sense of humor. Prayers for John's family. - Posted by: Don Clark (Friend) on: Jan 14, 2012

  • So sorry to hear of John's passing. John and I were childhood friends growing up in Dauphin. We shared many enjoyable moments together in school, birthday parties and playing on the streets of Dauphin in the 60's. Best wishes to John's family. - Posted by: Larry Worobey (Childhood friend) on: Jan 14, 2012
