Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAKIRA (AKI) TAMOTO 1928 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce, on Saturday, January 14, 2012, Akira (Aki) Tamoto passed away suddenly at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 83. Aki was born and raised in Steveston, BC, before moving to Japan as a young adult after the Second World War. While in Japan, Aki met and married his wife Chiyoko before returning to Canada to begin their lives together in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Aki is survived by his devoted and loving wife Chiyoko; children Sam (Terry), Jackie, and Glen (Agnes); his grandchildren Connie (Brent), Jessica (Wes), Crystal, David, Ashley and Nicole, and his great-grandson Quintin. He was predeceased by his daughter, Aileen in December, 2009. Aki was a talented and skillful man who worked his way to becoming President of Fuji Builders - a position he proudly held until his retirement. During his retirement, Aki enjoyed spending time working on traditional Japanese crafts, singing Karaoke and visiting with his family and friends. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Cardiac Critical Care Department. Aki has requested a private family service which will take place in the summer in his hometown of Steveston.
