MARIAN BRANICKI March 15, 1924 - January 21, 2012 On Saturday, January 21, 2012 Marian passed away quietly with his wife by his side, at the age of 87 years. Left to forever cherish Marian's memory is his wife, Annie; daughters Marion and Erika (Paula); granddaughters Simone and Danielle; sister Pella and family in Poland; as well as extended family in Germany. Marian was born in Kiczki/Warsaw, Poland. He survived the Second World War after being taken from Poland to Germany at the age of 15, where he eventually met his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Maria Ruhl. During the hard years after the war, the couple came to Canada in 1953 with their two young daughters. For over 25 years Marian worked for CPR then Via Rail until his retirement when he enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage at Victoria Beach. Puttering in his garden with his garden gnomes and prized tomatoes, taking long bike rides or walks and photographing absolutely everything, were his favourite pastimes. A devoted Opa to his beloved granddaughters, he immortalized their growth with imprints of their feet in his cement walkways. Marian was a friendly, talkative, outgoing man who was kind and generous to everyone. Marian was proud of his Polish heritage and loved reading about the history of Poland. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Polish Combatants Branch. For those who wish to join in praying the Rosary, it will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 in Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue followed by Funeral Liturgy which will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. also in the Church, with an Oblate Father presiding. Interment will follow in the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. Special thanks to Helen and Stan for their support and assistance at this difficult time and to Doug for his help and kindness over the past few years. As Marian loved animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Miss you Tatusch!

So sorry to read about your dad's passing, someone in Winnipeg told me about it. I sure remember the good times we had in Winnipeg with our parents, the outings and YWCA coat checking, learning how to do the twist, etc. Also have great pix of New Years Eve, 1959. How is your mom? My Dear Friend Marian the miles keep me from saying my last "Aufwiedersehn" in person. My memories of you and our lifelong friendship will be in my heart forever. How I remember the early years when both our families found comfort in this new land Canada. Together we raised our children, shared our struggles along with the good times and made a life for our families. My Dear Anni my heart goes out to you. Be strong and may God Bless you and watch over you. Your Loving Friend Always Margret - Posted by: Martha Kryszkiewicz [Margret] (Lifelong Friend) on: Jan 26, 2012

I will always remember Marian as "Uncle Marian". Peter, Sylvia and I grew up with Marion and Erica. Our parents met and became close friends after emigrating from Germany. I have many memories of our times together and will always hold them dear to my heart. Marian had a great enthusiasm for life! Rest in peace "Uncle Marian" - Posted by: Irene Gyselinck [Kryszkiewicz] (Longtime Family Friend) on: Jan 26, 2012

Our condolences go our to Anne and her family. Marion and Anne were our neighbours for 3 years on Rupertsland Ave. We remember how Marian was so fit for his age and was always riding his bike everywhere. He was so full of vigor! But mostly we remember how he was such a nice man. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Jaime and Judy Figueiredo - Posted by: Jaime and Judy Figueiredo (old neighbours) on: Jan 26, 2012

Dear beloved Brother and Uncle Marian! Polish poet writes: " Hurry to love people, they so quickly pass away....." Forgive that we did not love you as much as you loved us. We are sure that God will reward you for your goodness and you will find heavenly peace. You will stay forever in our thoughts and memories. NIECH BÓG DA CI ŻYCIE WIECZNE!
