STEFANIA RZESZUTEK (nee MIZGALA) After a long illness, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother on February 1, 2012 at Holy Family Nursing Home, at the age of 89. She is mourned by her seven children: daughters, Mary (Janus) of Prince George, BC, Halina (Emil), Krystyna, Apolonia (Sandor), Evelina (Walter), and sons, Antonio (Mary) and Walter (Tammy) of Winnipeg. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Krystyna of Edmonton, AB, Andrea of Prince George, BC, Mike of Smithers, BC, Eva, Sandor, Stephanie, Jonathan, Glen, Elizabeth, Crystal and Matthew of Winnipeg. Stefania was predeceased by her husband Wladyslaw in 2004. She was also predeceased by her mother, father and entire family in Poland during the war years. She often lamented about her youngest brother Stanislaw. After the war she tried to find him on several occasions but he was never located and presumed deceased. Born in Potok Zloty, Poland on April 12, 1922, Stefania spent most of the war years in Germany. During the war years she met Wladyslaw Rzeszutek and they married in 1945. They immigrated to Brazil in 1949 where they spent 21 years. In 1970 Stefania, her husband Wladyslaw and their seven children immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada and began anew once again. She worked in a sewing factory but life was difficult due to the language barriers. Dedication to her husband and children with a concrete belief in God almighty were the cornerstones of our dear mom, Stefania's life. Her children were always very precious to her. She dedicated herself to her children and tried her very best to provide guidance, support and to fulfill their needs. Countless times Mom did without, so that her children could have whatever they needed. Our Mom's weathered hands were a testament to how hard she worked in her life. She always told her children never to give up when life's challenges come about but to persevere and see things through. Mom always had a special way of handling all family matters and creating peace. Mom enjoyed all family gatherings as all her children would come home but she especially enjoyed Christmas and Easter time. Mom enjoyed walks with Dad in the city park flower gardens and going blueberry and mushroom picking at her favourite spots. Her favourite colour was yellow and she would always smile and give us kids a big hug when she received yellow flowers. Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and slowly we saw her memories of the children she loved so dearly slip away. In her last few days Mom suffered immensely and it profoundly moved all of her children. We thank God for giving us the time we had with our wonderful Mom and the many cherished memories. We love you dearly and will miss you. You are forever in our hearts. Mom, thank you for all that you did for Dad and us, and may God grant you peace and find a place in Heaven for you. May the light of Jesus Christ always shine upon you. Our family would like to thank all of those who sincerely cared about our beloved mother throughout her illness. Thanks to the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home who honestly cared for our Mom. Thanks to all friends of the family for your support. May God Bless You All. Rosary at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7 at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating.
