Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN RUTH DAVIS (nee MANN) (formerly BOGSETH) October 12, 1914 - February 1, 2012 Kathleen passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She leaves to mourn her children: Rocklee Bogseth (Sandra), Betty-Lou Grier, Keith Davis (Carol) and Mary Ellen Derro, her grandchildren: Dawne Balmer (Jim), Lee Bogseth (Carolyn), Geoff Grier, Campbell Grier (Katie), Jocelyn Cordeiro (Victor), Justin Davis, Travis Davis, Matthew Derro and Alycia Derro, her great-grandchildren: Sarah Ross (Bradley), Diana Balmer, Gerianne Bogseth, Brooke Bogseth, Andrew Grier, Davis Cordeiro, Jessica Davis and Kaden Derro. She will also be greatly missed by her brother George Mann. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents Edith and Alfred Mann, her siblings: Doris Caron, Laurie Mann and Ted Mann, her first husband George Bogseth in 1953, her second husband Leslie Davis in 2001, one grandson Bradley Davis and her son-in-law Andy Grier. Kathleen was born in England and came to Canada as a child with her family to a farm in Lake Francis. She lived most of her adult life in St. Vital and River Heights except for a few years in Vancouver and White Rock, BC. She was a favourite aunt of many of her nieces and nephews often referred to as Auntie Ruby or Auntie Kay. She touched the hearts of many who aspired to be just like her: strong, independent, creative, caring, full of fun and very stylish. While a widow from 1953 to 1957, Kathleen was employed at Eaton's as a telephone operator having trained in BC with Bell Telephones. Her main task in life however always revolved around her children who loved her dearly. She was young at heart and kept up to date with the latest news, trends and politics. She loved music, reading and entertaining. She was known for her fancy sandwiches and wonderful parties. With each child she raised, she also owned a dog. She was a member for many years of the Oxford United Church, the Fort Rouge Legion and the Royal Order of the Purple. Many thanks to the wonderful staff of the Health Sciences Centre on GA4 and GD5, home care workers: Chen, Lucy, Teresa and Katherine, private companions (and dear friends): Connie Chappel, Barbara Doherty, Tessie Vieira, Barbara Bain and Margie Zaworonok. All of you helped the family to give Kathleen quality of life in her final years and for that you will be truly blessed. A Memorial Service to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). If friends so desire, donations may be made to the CNIB, 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 3M3. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
