ANDREW J. (JEEP) ENNS Peacefully on February 2, 2012, at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, Andrew J. (Jeep) Enns passed away at the age of 87. Jeep is survived by his son, Gordon of Selkirk, his daughter, Bobbie (Darryl) and one sister, Frieda Potempa of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his sisters Mary Ediger, Anita Olfert and Anne Braun, and his brother, Charlie Enns. Jeep was proud to have served his country in the Air Force during the Second World War in England and Belgium. Upon returning home he went to work with his father in the carpentry trade. His skill and knowledge lead him to a position with the Federal Department of Veteran's Affairs and later with Indian and Northern Affairs. His time was also spent hunting and fishing with his good buddy, Eric Roberts and his bother-in-law, Dan. After his retirement, Jeep took up golf and spent numerous mornings at Rossmere Golf and Country Club. But his true passion was music, spending 61 years Barbershop Quartet singing and over 50 years in the John Black Memorial United Church Choir. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Irene Baron Eden Centre and Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for their patience and care during Jeep's last couple of years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012 at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare or the charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I have since moved to Toronto, but I was saddened to hear of Jeep's passing. I enjoyed singing in the Bass Section of the Golden Chordsmen with Jeep for 27 of those 61 years. My condolences to Jeep's family and friends. - Posted by: Martin Gurvey () on: Feb 10, 2012

  • I was a member of Winnipeg's Golden Chordsmen Chorus 1980-88. I clearly recall Jeep's quiet and calm disposition and am saddened to read of his death. Since moving to Halifax in 1988 I have visited WGC on a couple of occasions. Last time was five or six years ago, and had opportunity then to say hello to him. He was amongst those who typified the old Scottish saying "good folk are scarce". - Posted by: Paul Brennan (Fellow Barbershop harmony singer) on: Feb 10, 2012

  • My condolences to the family Enjoyed many good visits in the "waffle shop" - Posted by: Ray Barkman () on: Feb 09, 2012

  • Gordie, Bobbie and Darryl, I am so sorry to hear about your loss and it was so good to see Jeep in September. I remember the good times we had when we used to camp together and the times visiting Winnipeg when everyone was well. With all my love, Margaret - Posted by: Margaret Enns (Sister-in-law) on: Feb 07, 2012

  • I was so sorry to hear of Jeep's passing. I had the privilege of singing with Jeep for two years in the John Black Choir. He sang as I imagine he lived, wonderfully in tune and with enthusiasm. - Posted by: Brenda Wedlake (friend from choir) on: Feb 07, 2012
