Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY ARCHIBALD WALLIS Passed away peacefully at the Glenboro Health Centre on Friday, February 3, 2012 with his family by his side; Roy Archibald Wallis, aged 80 years, of Glenboro, MB. Roy leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 56 years Lorna (nee Steele), children Wendy (Corey) Keith of Turner Valley, AB, Randy (Shelley) Wallis of Glenboro, Cindy (Brent) Pringle of Glenboro, six grandchildren Michael (Chris), Murray (Natalie), Kirby, Drake, Teagan and Gage, three great-grandchildren Noah, Naomi and Abigail; brother Tim (Joyce) Wallis of Glenboro, sisters Eleanor (Jack) Hamilton of Glenboro, Sheila (Gordon) Sorensen of High River, AB, sister-in-law Alma Wallis of Wawanesa as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Roy was predeceased by his parents Luther (1974) and Sylvia (1980) and by a brother George Wallis (2008). Roy was born October 24, 1931 at Glenboro, Manitoba and attended Glencoe and Glenboro Schools. After graduation Roy worked for Canada Packers as a bookkeeper in Glenboro, Dauphin and Fort Francis, ON, and returned to Glenboro in 1953 when invited by his father Luther to join him in the insurance agency - Wallis Agencies. Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was active in his community serving on several committees including Chamber of Commerce, Curling Club, Golf Course and trustee of the School Board. Roy was one of the founders of the Glenboro Area Foundation and acted as Secretary/Treasurer from 1988 to 2007 and continued to be active as a member of the advisory board. Roy was humbled to receive an honorary lifetime membership to the Glenboro Golf Course in 2002 and the Glenboro Resident of Distinction in 2007. Roy was a man of integrity, dignity and passion; his many passions included his family first and foremost, the game of golf and his home across from the Glenboro Golf Course. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and taking care of his home and yard. Roy and Lorna loved to travel and enjoyed making new acquaintances. The insurance business brought many lifetime friendships, which he treasured. Even though his health had failed him, Roy maintained his wonderful sense of humour and quick wit for which he was so well known. The family gratefully acknowledges Drs. Swanepoel and White and the entire staff of the Glenboro Health Centre for your care, compassion and friendship over the past 14 months. A celebration of Roy's life was held on Tuesday, February 7 at Willmor Chapel with Rev. Mike Williams officiating, his six grandchildren acted as pallbearers. Interment took place at the Glenboro Cemetery.
