YVES SAVIGNAC Peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2012 Yves Savignac passed away at Oakview Place nursing home. Yves was preceded by his father Joseph Savignac of Ste. Elizabeth, PQ and his mother Gabrielle (Gratton) of Ste. Agathe, MB. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years Natalie Savignac (nee Sywak), his sister Thérèse Rousseau (Roy), his aunt Yolande (Gratton) Bilodeau, his four children Robert (Martine), Anne (Steven), Marc (Elin) and Suzanne (Mike), his three stepchildren Natalie (Wes), Curtis and Craig (Gail), his cousin Evangaline, numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his many dear friends and his first wife Isabel (Crackel) Sommerville. Yves was born and raised in St. Boniface and was soon employed by the French Radio Station CKSB, then by CBC / Radio-Canada where he performed many duties including maintenance technician for electronic news gathering. Upon retiring, he spent his winters in Mesa, AZ and summers in Winnipeg, where he volunteered at Kingswood Golf Club. Yves enjoyed all types of activities including camping, golf, fishing, sailing, scuba diving, tennis and travelling abroad. He was very handy and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed genealogy, tracing his family tree. He was a humble selfless man who volunteered his time willingly to help others. He taught seniors computer skills. His family was at the center of his world. He especially loved children, who immediately recognized his kind warm heart. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Oakview Place and Parkview Place for their compassionate care. Funeral service for Yves will be held at St. Charles Parish, 320 St. Charles Street at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society or to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Even during his retirement I would occasionally bump into to Yves either at the golf course or in the grocery store and he would keep posted of how everyone is doing...
